Evangel Campuses WILL REOPEN for Pentecost Sunday

In Response to our Mayor’s Concerns, we suspended our “in-person” Worship Services this past weekend.  However, it was determined this morning that we WILL REOPEN BOTH OF OUR CAMPUSES THIS COMING SUNDAY – WHICH IS PENTECOST SUNDAY.  The original birthday of the church seems like the perfect day.

The decision was made after:

  • reviewing our safety and sanitizing procedures which were used our first week back, and seeing them followed gracefully by our Evangel family.

  • seeing that several churches in the Montgomery and River Region areas have remained open or are opening this weekend.

  • Governor Ivey opened up entertainment venues such as theaters and many other businesses throughout the state.

  • and MOST IMPORTANTLY a season of fervent prayer by our Church Board in seeking the Wisdom of God.

  • So, let me review how we are serving and ministering to the entire Evangel Family.

FIRST – We will have “IN-PERSON” Sunday morning services available for those who can join us at either of our campuses.  We will continue to HONOR the guidelines of our Governor:

  • We encourage all attendees to practice good hygiene recommendations: Wash your hands frequently. Do not touch your face. Wear a mask, if desired.

  • We will have hand sanitizer stations around the Worship Center.

  • We ask everyone to practice social distancing (no shaking of hands or hugging).

  • We ask people who feel sick to stay at home and worship with us online.

  • We ask that if someone in your household has tested positive for the virus, that the entire family stay home and worship with us online.

  • We ask those who are at high risk (serious underlying health conditions, compromised immune system, etc.) to stay home and worship with us online.

  • We will have Greeters outside the restrooms to keep occupancy at the standard as required by Phase 1 Guidelines.

  • We will mark, rope off, and stagger seating rows to maintain social distancing.

  • 6 ft markers have been placed on the floors of our lobby and common areas.

  • We will not have paper Worship Guides during this season.

  • We will close our coffee and donut bar during this time (you may bring your own). Offering buckets will not be passed, but instead, will be placed near the exits.

  • Our Greeters will practice social distancing and wear masks for your safety. We will prop open the main doors for “no-touch” entering and exiting.

  • We will dismiss our service by section, so as not to overwhelm the lobby as we exit.

  • We will postpone in-person Sunday morning Lifegroups due to the inability to clean and sanitize buildings between gatherings.

Since we cannot maintain social distancing with our children, we will not have children’s or youth ministries during Phase I. We will hold “Family Services” through this season and will make space for all the members of your family to sit together.

SECOND – Throughout the week, we will continue to minister online to the entirety of the Evangel Church Family. Here is a list of ministry opportunities for your family to stay connected:

  • CHILDREN:

    • Sunday afternoon services on Facebook Live at 4:30 p

    • Weekday devotionals on Facebook Live, also at 4:30 pm

  • YOUTH:

    • Wednesday evening Zoom meetings at 6:30 pm

    • Weekday devotionals on Instagram Live at 2:00 pm

    • Sunday Morning services on Facebook Live and our website at 10:30 am

    • Weekday updates with Pastor Mike at Noon on Facebook Live

LASTLY - We will continue assisting Evangel families with grocery needs.

As part of the Evangel family, if you have lost your income and need food assistance, please call the church office.  Also, if there are any other areas where we can serve or minister, please let us know. As always, thank you for your wonderful heart of stewardship.  Your generosity is making a great difference during this season. Again, for your convenience we have included a self-addressed envelope and continue to offer online and text-to-give options as well.  This is our hour to make an eternal difference.

Remember, the Lord is Good, and He is Faithful!

Pastor Mike

P.S. We will kickoff this weekend with Saturday morning prayer at 8:00 am at Montgomery Campus, and follow all safety procedures as we pray.
